Edinburgh is the latest Jsoc which has seen a large uptake in sport after receiving support from the Student Sport Project (SSP). The SSP which is powered by Maccabi GB and UJS, it supports two teams in Edinburgh, both the newly formed netball and football teams go under the name Maccabi Marchmont.

These are the stories about how these two newest additions to the student sport project have been getting on.
Jodie Bloom- Maccabi Marchmont netball captain
"I am the captain of Maccabi Marchmont, a new Jsoc netball team at the University of Edinburgh. I used to play competitively before university, however I fell out of love with the pressure and dedication. At university, I have rediscovered my love and genuine enjoyment for the sport after being chosen as captain for the intramural team. I organised a training session before our first match of the season to go over the basics and before long everyone was having so much fun. The team is open to anyone at any level.
We then went straight into matches, and I was confident that even if we did not come out with a win, we would give it our best shot. Our team spirit is unmatched and, after a semester of games played, I am proud to say that we are joint third in our division. This gives us space to improve and work our way up. Win or lose, we have come so far in such a short space of time and I am excited to see what next semester brings, as well as the future of the Edinburgh Jsoc netball team.
As well as the netball team, Edinburgh Jsoc have also established their own football team which competes in the university leagues. "
Matthew Woolf- Maccabi Marchmont football captain
"As captain of the newly formed Maccabi Marchmont Jsoc football team, I have had a great time forming this team and seeing it grow. We have had a mixed start to the league with two wins and two defeats however, we have improved each week and we are enjoying getting used to how the team plays, and made friendships along the way. We are looking forward to a more consistent second half of the season and are especially excited for our upcoming match against St Andrews Jsoc."
